Slow fashion is the movement of designing, creating, and buying garments for quality and longevity. It encourages slower production schedules, fair wages, lower carbon footprints, and (ideally) zero waste.
As a maker, I take much better care of my handmade pieces so that they last longer than the ones I buy. Self-pride aside, this is in large part due to the fact that I know how much time and money it took to make them. Think about it. If I take 15 hours to knit a sweater (on a good day), and it costs over $100 in material, how on earth are other brands producing them in less than a day for under $25?
I encourage you to think about the labour, costs, and production processes that you’re supporting when you buy a brendamadethis knitted garment.
