Why so slow?

Why support slow fashion?

Slow fashion is the movement of designing, creating, and buying garments for quality and longevity. It encourages slower production schedules, fair wages, lower carbon footprints, and (ideally) zero waste.

As a maker, I take much better care of my handmade pieces so that they last longer than the ones I buy. Self-pride aside, this is in large part due to the fact that I know how much time and money it took to make them. Think about it. If I take 15 hours to knit a sweater (on a good day), and it costs over $100 in material, how on earth are other brands producing them in less than a day for under $25?

I encourage you to think about the labour, costs, and production processes that you’re supporting when you buy a brendamadethis knitted garment.

Behind the Seams

Sourcing

My knits are made with 100% soft merino wool from South America, sourced with consideration to reduce the impact on the environment. They’re 100% natural, renewable, biodegradable, cozy, and made to last. Kind to you and kind to the planet.

Any leftover yarn is used for smaller projects.

Packaging

If I can, I will reuse packaging around the house to ship out orders. Otherwise, my packaging comes from ecoenclose.
